What is Jiu Jitsu?

Do I need to be in shape to start??

Any fitness level is welcome to the classes. What we emphasize in our classes is hard work. Everyone is welcome and we will do our best to accommodate you. As the lessons progress, so will your fitness, so lessons will become easier.Our team will ensure a progressive and gradual plan to help you acclimate to our programs while achieving your fitness goals.

What should I bring to my first class?

For Jiu Jitsu classes, we recommend comfortable athletic clothing that allows for movement. For Yoga and Barre classes, bring a yoga mat, water bottle, and comfortable clothing. If you don’t have a mat, let us know and we can provide one for your first class.

Do I need any prior experience to join a class at Bearfoot Studios?

No prior experience is necessary! Our classes are tailored to accommodate everyone from complete beginners to seasoned practitioners. Our instructors are here to guide you through each step of your fitness and wellness journey.

Will I be expected to compete in Jiu Jitsu?

Competition is encouraged for those who wish to do so but it is NOT a requirement.While there are many positive reasons for competing in tournaments, it is each individual’s choice. Over the years, we have noticed that students who compete make amazing improvements in their Jiu-Jitsu skills.

Are there any age restrictions for joining the classes at Bearfoot Studios?

Our Kids Jiu Jitsu classes are specifically designed for children ages 5 to 15. All other classes, including Adult Jiu Jitsu, Yoga, and Barre and Group Fitness, are open to participants 16 years and older. If you have any concerns about age suitability, please contact us for more information.
